Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management

1. Objectives. It is declared to be in the general public welfare of Iowa and a highway purpose for the vegetation of Iowa's roadsides to be preserved, planted, and maintained to be safe, visually interesting, ecologically integrated, and useful for many purposes.

 
 

INTEGRATED ROADSIDE VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

irvmIntegrated Roadside Vegetation Management (IRVM) programs provide technical assistance, training and education to county IRVM programs through conferences, workshops, and distribution of educational materials. Strengthen IRVM statewide through partnerships with Iowa Department of Transportation and other agencies. 50 Iowa counties have implemented IRVM programs. Since 1998, 78 counties have received Transportation Enhancement seed and restored 10,000 acres of roadsides to native vegetation.
